Our Expertise

CTU TeamAt each stage of clinical trial development and conduct, the Primary Care CTU provides advice and expertise - scientific, logistical, statistical and technical – to ensure the highest quality run trials, data capture and results.

The Primary Care Trials Unit can provide support, on a collaborative basis, in the following areas:

Planning and pre-trial requirements
• Feasibility assessment
• Protocol development
• Trial design: methodological and statistical
• Support with funding applications
• Obtaining ethical, R&D and regulatory approvals

Trial management
• Trial co-ordination
• Questionnaire and case report form design
• Data management: database design and maintenance
• Randomisation
• Quality assurance procedures: auditing and monitoring
• Statistical analysis

The Unit has close links with individuals with expertise in health economic analyses and accredited laboratories. 

The University of Oxford acts as sponsor for many of the trials conducted by the PC-CTU and the Unit works closely with the University's Clinical Trials and Research Governance (CTRG) team to ensure compliance with the applicable governance and/or regulations.
