Suman Prinjha is an anthropologist and obtained her PhD in 1999 from the London School of Economics. She has been a Senior Researcher for the DIPEx Research Group, based at the University of Oxford, since 2001 (www.healthtalkonline.org). She has produced 5 DIPEx modules: breast screening, breast cancer, epilepsy, patients' experiences of intensive care, and
relatives' experiences of intensive care.
Since 2001, Suman has conducted over 200 qualitative interviews across the UK, over 100 of which have been on women's experiences of breast screening and breast cancer. All of this research has been made available to patients and health professionals via the DIPEx website and peer-reviewed papers. Currently, she is building on her research interest in breast conditions and working on a new DIPEx site on Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS, a precancerous breast condition).
Suman's research interests include patients' experiences of breast cancer, breast screening and intensive care, BME health and South Asian cultural identities.
