Biography
Tim Holt joined the Department of Primary Health Care in 2011 as NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer. He is a general practice principal in Warwickshire and is interested in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and use of new technologies in primary care. His PhD (University of Warwick 2010) investigated the potential of electronic data in primary care to support identification of cardiovascular disease risk. This work led to the installation of software into the majority of UK general practice computer systems to flag up people with biochemical evidence of undiagnosed diabetes. Tim is co-applicant on two currently funded multi-site trials. The ESTEEM trial investigates alternative triage arrangements for handling requests for same day appointments in general practice (NIHR HTA). DDELPHI is a feasibility trial of a brief consultation based intervention to increase physical activity funded by the MRC National Prevention Research Initiative. Other work includes the identification of stroke risk in people with atrial fibrillation, and the use of hand held ultrasound in primary care.
