Ulla Räisänen joined the DIPEx research group in February 2007 and works as a reseacher on the project “Young people’s experiences of epilepsy”. Ulla’s background is in discourse analysis, health communication and applied linguistics. She is currently finalising her PhD: “Discourses of Young people’s mental health in the Finnish newsprint media”.

Her research experience and interests include the discursive construction of (mental) health and illness, health and identity, young people’s health, the experience of chronic illness and health discourses of the media.
