Introduction

CochraneThe Tobacco Addiction group is one of the collaborative review groups contributing to the Cochrane Collaboration and is supported by the University Department of Primary Health Care as part of its cancer research programme. The aim of the group is to prepare and maintain systematic reviews of interventions relevant to tobacco control. The scope includes individual and community level interventions for assisting cessation, preventing uptake and changing public policy on tobacco advertising, price and regulation. 

The coordinating editor is Dr Tim Lancaster, Reader in Primary Health Care, University of Oxford. Other editors are Professor Robert West, St George's Hospital Medical School, London, and Dr Amanda Sowden, Centre for Reviews & Dissemination, University of York.

The group receives core funding to support the post of review group co-ordinator from the UK National Health Service Research & Development Executive.
