Alison Ward joined the Department in 2005. She supports NHS funded research within the Department ensuring that both ethical and research governance guidelines are adhered to. She also supervises a new program to provide support and training for current postgraduate students as well as attracting future research leaders into primary health care. Alison's research includes examining the role of intergenerational morbidity in families using linked administrative health services databases; conducting a randomised controlled trial of the role of patient empowerment in a cancer shared care model; working on various aspects of colorectal cancer and primary care; and more recently exploring the role of psychology in the monitoring of chronic disease.
